Very annoyed I cant email from my iphone at the moment because of server issues and I cant begin to understand what that even means, but I'm bummed. Hopefully I know someone who can fix it for me. So anyway shots from today and last saturday are iphone shots and as such can only be seen from my iphone at the moment.

I shot theses as I was dropping Kaylin off at school this morning. Now before you think I went all crazy with photoshop, dont! These are right out of the camera, straight to the blog. That is really how the sky looked this morning. I didn't even stop to crop them, though it pained me not to do so.

As for this little guy, he was NOT little!

He was the size of a football and I found him less than a block from the school park.

I've seen these things scurrying along the road before, some as big as a cat.

This the old street car in the the very back corner of the WDM here in Saskatoon. I think it might be my very favorite thing in the whole building. The lighting here is so erie, so perfect. This photo is straight out of the camera, no adjustments.

I started this project 120 days ago.
The goal was simple: 1 photo everyday. While I must admit there are a few days I shot nothing, I have taken more than 3000 photos specifically related to or because of this project. Some days it's easy to achieve {what I consider to be} a stellar photo, other days not so much. I'm looking forward to 365 photos of 2010, I hope you enjoy them too.

goals for 2010...
1. everyday without fail
2. regular posting
3. better, more creative photography
4. using more of the gear in my bag
5. expand my limited photoshop skills

blue moon

To my understanding the phrase "once in a blue moon" (meaning rare) came before the term blue moon referring to 2 full moons in one calendar month as we've had here in December. Tonight was also a Lunar eclipse although we did not see that here. I shot this with my 500mm zoom lens. This is the same image with 2 slightly different edits. Happy New Year!

I got home late from doing inventory and wow counting paper and stickers really does a number on your hands. Of course this photo doesn't show it but every line and crack in my skin was filled with fine white dust. My hands were sooooo dry, they looked like they had aged 40 years in one night.

the elf on the shelf

This is Fitzworth, as so named by Kaylin.

This little guys job is to carefully monitor the behavior
of the child in his charge and report each evening to his boss (the big guy himself), Santa Claus whether he or she was naughty or nice. Since of course he is a magic little elf, he flies home to the north pole each night. Each morning he's back but hiding in a new spot and Kaylin has to find him.

I bought paint for Kaylin's room back in June, but never got around to doing the job. I took the opportunity to sleep in on a lazy Sunday morning, but when I awoke, I decided this was the day! So all by myself, I dismantled her bedroom, cleared it of all furniture, sanded and prepped the walls, taped an painted the room and cleaned up all the mess. Let me tell you, I went to bed exhausted.
I'm, thrilled the job is done...just gotta put it all back together again.

On my way to Edmonton, I stopped just before I got to Lloydminster and shot this. Yep it's blurry, so are all my other shots that day. I was having a little freak out thinking my camera or lens was broken. The auto-focus on my camera was not working, at all! I checked all the various controls and swtiches, knobs, dials and toggles Turns out there's a little toggle on the side of my camera that allow me to switch between M, S, and C...um what's the heck is this? Out comes the manual, which I do carry with me, and problem solved YEAH!!!

So after I get back in the car and head on down the highway, I get a call from my Dad who's wondering if that was me stopped on the side of the highway and why? What are the chances he would just happen to pull over on the opposite side of the highway at the very same time, in the very same spot. "No Dad, no car trouble, I just stopped to take pictures". I'm sure he was rolling his eyes and shaking his head.

this was shot in my dining room at 11pm... the "cloudy sky" in the background is a reflection of the textured ceiling (the wall is a mirror) and the "setting sun" is the dining room light fixture. The twigs are just part of the decor, from ikea.
